Your brand is likely wasting ten percent more effort on X that offers fifty percent less in return 😶! Are there any alternatives to X? Threads seems to be a strong candidate 🏅. The shift from X to Threads is no longer a theoretical debate for social media teams. Recent data from Similarweb (via Social Media Today) shows that Threads has officially overtaken X in daily active users on mobile devices. We've tracked our own performance to see if this wider decline matched our specific results: 👉 In 2025, we increased our publishing volume on X by nearly 10%. 👉 Despite putting in more effort, our engagement dropped by 55.2% 👉 Our follower growth began to slip. 💡Our key learning that can help your strategy? Pushing more content into a platform with LOW-QUALITY interactions did not lead to better outcomes! The biggest risk for a brand today is staying on a platform out of habit rather than results. Beyond the raw metrics, we found that the quality of conversations on X has fundamentally changed. Our team spent significantly more time moderating spam replies and bot-driven interactions than facilitating genuine exchanges. A platform that requires more moderation for less meaningful reach is a strategy that social media teams can no longer afford to ignore 🛑. 👀 On the other hand, Threads is maturing into a structured alternative that prioritizes community and structured feeds. With the recent rollout of ads and improved in-app analytics, the trajectory of the platform is clear. 👉 Other alternatives like Bluesky, Substack, Mastodon or LinkedIn are also seeing shifts in monthly active users as audiences look for new ways to connect. Conclusion? A successful social media strategy is not about abandoning a platform overnight. It requires a constant evaluation of where your audience actually chooses to engage. If your effort is no longer leading to meaningful reach or interaction, it is time to reassess your resource allocation.
